Some of us here at HC are fans of pink. Like, big fans of pink — to the point that one of our most indulgent (and fairly unrealistic) hotel fantasies is to live in the Schiaparelli Suite at the London May Fair for all eternity.

So it is only fitting that we're just a wee bit more excited than usual to report the opening of a new hotel in Paris — from a chain/brand we already know — due to the apparent (tasteful!) touches of pink incorporated into the guest room design. The ideally-located Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe opens in the City of Light today, complete with super-funky, modern design elements — and enough pink to calm and satisfy everyone.

Located on the site of the Theatre de l’empire, the hotel is trumpeting its modern, sleek design above all else, seen before guests even step through the doors: the hotel's "signature wavy, all-glass exterior pays homage to the historic architecture on the Avenue Wagram" while still looking up-do-date and hinting at the funky design inside.

The 141-room hotel offers WiFi throughout (though not free) and "vibrant colors" (we see pink!) accenting the rooms, and you'll find VoIP telephones, HD LCD televisions, and digital connectivity panels in each guestroom as well.

Also in the hotel is Makassar Lounge & Restaurant, a new dining concept that "combines the exotic with the familiar, blending French Provence bistro flavors with authentic Indonesian dishes." The Makassar Lounge Bar — the centerpiece — has a glass counter "backlit with sketches from the worlds of fashion, theater and film," as well as a glass-encased wine cellar with by-the-glass regional wines and wines from Oceania.

Opening rates begin at €289 per night (around $385); check out the hotel's website here.

Too Much green for Too Much Pink!

Yuck!!  A pink lobby is one thing; why would anyone would want to shell out €350+ [$425!!!] per night to stay in a little pink room, particularly knowing it doesn't end there (+ minibar, + coffee + internet, +++++!)  What's restful and relxing about Pink?  These rooms look tiny and impractical...just like those wretched little closets at the Thompson LES in NYC.  All show, no go. At least theirs are black!
