Take a classic early 1960’s roadside motel, give it a spiffy makeover and a swift kick into the 21st century and you’ve got the kitschy Quail Park Lodge in Kanab, UT.

Although Kanab is a great overnight escape from Las Vegas, outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world dig this destination as a centrally-located home base for exploring Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and Grand Staircase Escalante.

And at Quail Park Lodge, there’s a whole lotta "new" goin' on, including a new swimming pool, LCD TV’s, free Wi-Fi, microwaves, mini-fridges, and comfy beds — and the Internet-savvy property is also wheeling and dealing reduced room rates on its frequently-updated Facebook page.

Right now, Facebook friends of Quail Park Lodge and fans of the National Geographic TV series "DogTown,” which is filmed at nearby Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, can receive 15% off room rates and special Facebook-only deals for merchandise.

Make a reservation at the Quail Park Lodge and save 15% when booking online. Use promo code "BEST" when making a reservation. Natch, the resort welcomes your four-legged friends.

With or without the deal, rooms are a steal starting at $89 per night.

Facebook is best for reaching niche groups

This is a good example of reaching out to a niche audience. In my opinion, that's the best use for Facebook: targeting everyone on that network seems to fail miserably:

    thanks for your comment

josiahmackenzie - I agree. I think too many people try to be all things to all audiences on FB and it isn't always successful. I definitely follow the FB pages of businesses that are innovative/creative/quirky in their posts.
