It’s quite a clever scheme – the kiddies get to totally pretend they have a horse by grooming it and mucking out the stable at the on-site equestrian centre – and the hotel gets its horses coiffed, saddles polished and stables cleaned up without having to pay anyone to do it (the kiddies, it should be said, also get two rides and a free lunch, with the package).
There are two horses up for grabs, called Chocolate and Minnie, and ‘owning’ them will set you back £55 for half a day (10am-1pm) or £135 for a whole day (10am-3pm) The drawback: you have to be between the ages of 7 and 16. So we’ll have to hold back on living out those fantasies just yet.
