W South Beach Will Get Its Mr. Chow on August 1st

We're not so sure what the story is with W South Beach right now. Its website still promises a June 16th opening, but as we mentioned already, some folks are saying that date's a little bit ambitious — even after the multiple delays the property has experienced. Oy.

But here's a date we do know: the Mr. Chow restaurant at W South Beach is set for an August 1st, 2009 opening. According to the Mr. Chow blog:

The stunning dining room is centered by a unique 123 foot Gold-leaf and Swarovski crystal chandelier designed by Michael Chow. Located directly at the beach, the restaurant features indoor and outdoor private rooms, a spacious outside dining patio and interior bar and lounge.

The kitchen will be headed up by Executive Chef Szto Saiwai, who was named Head Chef of Hong Kong's biggest Restaurant Group back when he was only 25. This will make for interesting competition, as commenter JorgeE notes, for NYC chef Philippe Chow's Philippe restaurant inside neighboring Gansevoort South.
