Among the latest additions to the Aussie luxury market is Moonlight Head Private Lodges, an über-modern, eco-sensitive property along the Great Ocean Road in Southern Victoria. Three striking lodges, averaging 2600 sq. ft. each, are the brainchild of Glen Murcutt, hailed by TIME as an “environmental hero of the planet,” and his partner Wendy Lewin.
The duo called upon an all-star roster of talent and brands to kit the rooms: Bang & Olufsen, BMW, Ducati, Mercedes, B&B Italia, Cassina, Philippe Starck, Peltrona Frau, New Zealand artist Karl Maughan, handmade Savoire beds, Decamps towels, Jo Malone, Ren or Malin & Goetz goodies, swimming pool sized Villeroy & Boch bathtubs, and double showers by Velo.
Luxe accommodations, amenities and exclusivity like you’ve never seen it before aside, Moonlight Head Private Lodges offers some really cool “Experiences,” including a Blue Whales Heli Tour to see pods of the massive mammals feeding and playing less than a mile offshore. Guests also take in Lady Julia Percy Island, home to one of the largest Australian fur seal colonies, before returning from the two hour, National Geographic worthy excursion.
Prices inclusive of 2 nights at Moonlight Head Private Lodges and the Heli tour out to the Blue Whales start from AU$13,000 for two people (approximately $10,000 USD). Hunky cattle driver not included.
Plans are also in the works for Moonlight Head Hotel, although estimated opening dates have not yet been confirmed.
