Edition Chicago Back On?

Edition lives! Well, more accurately: the lovechild of Ian Schrager and Bill Marriott is reportedly on the way — but there's no due date or sonogram shots to prove it.

After plans fell through for The Edition Chicago for Ontario Street in Chi-town, we kinda ditched the possibility of an Edition Chicago and kept a closer watch on other cities — but now it seems Chicago's back on the ol' Edition development map.

Thanks to an awesome tipster, we caught wind of this Crain's report:

Developer Michael Reschke is doubling down on hotels in the Loop. Mr. Reschke is close to a deal to bring a high-end boutique hotel that could have as many as 245 rooms to the historic Roanoke Building at 11 S. LaSalle St., sources say.

The new hotel, an Edition, would compete with a project Mr. Reschke has under way just two blocks south at 208 S. LaSalle, where the chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Prime Group Inc. is developing a 610-room J. W. Marriott hotel.

And one more little piece of hot gossip, too: this same developer is reportedly proposing another luxe boutique hotel in the Windy City, a 237-room Hotel Gansevoort "at 508 N. State St., currently a surface parking lot just south of Rock Bottom Brewery."

A swanky boutique-luxe tag team like this would be nice, but is all this really possible right now? Meh, surely the Edition and Gansevoort people are just thanking their lucky stars they're not Denizen.
