Chicago W's Offering Free Fitness Programs All Summer

When budget crunch time hits hard (or, like, being lazy with more money trumps working out and having less money), the ol' bought-with-good-intentions gym memberships go out the window. Luckily for Chicago residents (or hotel guests!), the W Hotels in Chicago have got your, um, butt: the trendy hotels are offering weekly, totally free workout programs to keep you totally in gear in a group setting through the end of the summer.

Time Out Chicago gives us a heads-up about the W Hotel Lakeshore's "Workout by the Water" program, group fitness sessions that are totally free each Tuesday at 6:30 am, or Monday and Wednesday at 5:00 pm. The hotel's GM (yes, GM) and trainer will meet you in the Living Room and take you out to the waterfront for an hour-long workout.

Meanwhile, The W Chicago - City Center has a similar program called "Get Winded with the W", workouts in Millennium Park (they meet at W first) every Thursday for the 6 to 7 a.m. hour. We're not so sure exactly how winded you'll be, though, as these programs are both supposedly "geared toward all ages and fitness levels." At the very least, you can assume these programs are not boot-camp-ish — and they're free and open to the public and W guests alike.

Weekday rates at the Lakeshore location start around $269 in May; weekday rates at the City Center location start at $259 this month (and the City Center location is undergoing a "refresh and renew" throughout the Spring — a.k.a. it's being renovated).
