The Thompson Dudes Form 'Do Not Disturb' Restaurant Group

Big news out of Thompson today. First up: remember how we reported on some cha-cha-cha changes at Cha inside the Donovan House, near and dear to our hearts because of a Hanson sighting and some delish sushi? We knew Todd English was out and Toronto chef Susur Lee was in (the same chef behind Shang at the Thompson LES), but we didn't know the name was changing too.

'Cha' is now 'Zentan', and "the menu will feature favorites from Shang in NYC and his restaurant, Lee in Toronto, as well as a selection of sushi, sashimi and Asian crudos." The new Zentan is set to open June 8, 2009, and until then, you can still snag sushi and small bites at the bar like we did.

Even bigger news: the dudes behind Thompson — Larry, Michael and Jason Pomeranc and Stephen Brandman — have gone and launched their own restaurant group.

According to a press release, the new restaurant company, called Do Not Disturb (ha), has already been hard at work:

This group will manage and operate end-destination dining and nightlife spots throughout North America. Current projects include the food and nightlife venues at Thompson LES and Gild Hall in New York, Donovan House in Washington, D.C., and Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles. The group also plans to open restaurant, bar and lounge spaces at Thompson Toronto in 2010.

[...] LaSalle Hotel Properties, owners of Gild Hall in New York City’s Financial District and Donovan House in Washington, D.C., has joint ventured with Do Not Disturb to conceptualize and operate The Libertine and Zentan.

Also, did you catch that? They're operating the Libertine inside Gild Hall, formerly managed by Todd English. Apparently, "Do Not Disturb Restaurant Group has taken over management of the restaurant and connecting Library Bar" and will roll out a new summer menu soon. Interesting — what happened between Thompson and Todd English? Surely there's some hot goss that we haven't heard yet...
