Regarding these interior plans, HospitalityDesign has more:
The 160 open guestrooms will include high ceilings, wood floors, abundant natural light thanks to large double windows, and a mosaic tile bathroom floor that mimics the design of the bedroom's Persian carpet. In the lobby, 'everything mingles,' says Garcia. 'The lobby, the restaurant, and the bar become one house.' Other standouts: a glass-covered atrium, a rooftop penthouse and outdoor terrace with heady views of the Empire State Building, and a Turkish steam room in the fitness room
Once both the Ace and NoMad hit their stride in early 2010, will we see a battle on Broadway with the hip and inexpensive Ace versus the eco-friendly and posh NoMad? If so, we can only hope that a room rate war ensues, guaranteeing that the area north of Madison Square will become a new focus for budget-conscious travelers.
