We've already griped about the insane parking fees at hotels and now we have another reason why we should just avoid hotel parking altogether. Or at least, self-park our own cars.

The owner of a $284,000 Lamborghini left his whip in the care of the valet at the Intercontinental Buckhead but when he went to check-out the car was missing. It wouldn't turn up for another month. From WSBTV News:

Eric Vargosko said he learned that his car was missing from a valet lot at the Intercontinental Hotel when it came time to check out.

“They looked for the car for about an hour, and the manager told me the car was missing -- they did not have the car,” Vargosko said.

Vargosko said his 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, one of only two brought in the United States, was recovered a month later with significant damage to the vehicle – damage Vargosko said wasn’t on the vehicle when he initially handed over the keys.

An investigation into what happened is now ongoing and the hotel has refused to comment. There is security camera footage that shows seven men getting into the Lamborghini as well as footage of the valet attendant handing over the keys to two of those men.

As it stands, this guest went a month without a car thanks to the hotel's valet and now, he can't even get the hotel to cough up the expenses to fix the damage. There's not even a free stay involved! However, even if that was offered we're not sure we would even take it. Let's just hope they didn't make him pay any valet parking fees.

Hotel Parking

Sorry, if I had a Gallardo, I'd park it myself thanks.

Really?

I didn't know 7 people could fit into a car like this!

Hotel parking

I always avoid valet parking -- I'm afraid how they drive my car and I don't like feeling like I have to tip for them to do their jobs.  A hotel charging to park is just plain greedy - you're spending the night and paying for that?  What are you supposed to do with your car in the mean time?

don't like to tip?

I guess when you go out to a restaurant you cook and serve yourself right?

Airport parking

Had a similar experience once at an airport. Parked my car up, and when I came to collect it, it took was absolutely filthy, and had been driven over 70 miles since I dropped it off! That was the last time I got cheap parking. From that point on, I just went for the official East Midlands Airport parking, which is my local airport.
