Hang With Mom at a Hilton (Or Send Her Away Solo)

Mother's Day gifts typically can be grouped into three categories: gifts for mom, gifts for you and for the Lady of the House, or gifts for the whole fam. Any of these are acceptable, but some of us prefer to indulge ourselves while the ol' Mums is being pampered too (whatever, sometimes a girl needs an excuse, right?) while some of us prefer to send her off on her own to do her thang.

If you're in the latter group, Hilton Hotels have a variety of just-for-mom indulgence packages, designed with her (and only her) in mind: The Hilton Anatole in Dallas, for instance, offers Mother's Day spa packages for the brand new V Spa, which involve a whole day of pampering solo, including a mani-pedi, a footbath, a massage and an organic facial. At The Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii, you can send her off to get spa services such as "signature Lomi Lomi and Healing Stone massages," let her blow off steam on the fitness equipment, and refresh her look at the salon.

If you're into doing a duo trip — i.e. you want to come along for a little pampering with the wifey or the mom — a number of Hiltons offer Mother's Day packages for two: The Hilton Tucson East offers a "Mini Get Away For Two" starting at $144 a night, including a room, dinner at the hotel's restaurant and the option to add an in-room Swedish massage and facial.

If you're in the mood for some major shoppin with her, The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, FL offers "The Sandestination Escape Package," which includes spa accommodations for two, a gift bag with savings from four shopping destinations and a Silver Sands Platinum Rewards Book that "features an additional $800 in savings on already 30-70 percent off retail prices."

Just remember: try to be sly about whichever option you choose. Don't make her feel like you don't want to spend time with her if you're sending her on a solo vacay; and don't make her feel like you're just buying yourself a gift if you opt for a two-person trip.

Good idea

I like this idea. I've never sent my mom on a trip to a hotel before. I know she'll love it. Orielly Auto Parts
