Possibly nothing is sweeter than checking into a fancy-schmancy hotel and finding out its secrets. Hopefully these secrets include at least one of three things: a guests-only roof deck, access to a glassed-in lap pool, and/or a hidden restaurant. Figuring that it's been a while since we last waxed poetic about the divine existence of the New York Le Parker Meridien's own secluded greasy spoon, and since it's a Friday, we decided to swing by the good old Burger Joint.

Nestled behind a thick curtained wall in the center of the airy lobby of the Le Parker, Burger Joint is a gem in the Midtown world of Starbucks and overpriced entrees. Welcoming of both locals and tourists, so long as they are in-the-know and carry cash, it draws 'em in for $7 juicy burgers accompanied by a plastic cup of Sam Adams or a sinfully-thick milkshake. Chomp and sip surrounded by faux-wood paneling, diner booths and a wall covered in the names and goodwill notes of past patrons.

If you're lucky enough to be staying mere floors above Burger Joint in the hotel itself, then we still highly recommend making the short elevator trip downstairs to avoid paying $20 for the same burger ordered through room service. No matter what, be sure to have your order in mind (hamburgers or cheeseburgers only), cash in hand, and belly empty as Burger Joint takes its reputation for expedient service and filling food quite seriously. With late April rates for the Le Parker rooms themselves starting at $320, we think a quick bite and shake just might be the perfect city mini-staycation.

And! If burgers are your thing, check out our list of The Best Hidden Hotel Burger Shops.
