Room Reaction
Having seen $130 buy us a dive in Memphis, we weren’t expecting much for $55. So we were extremely pleasantly surprised by the Lynchburg Country Inn. Our room was spotless. However, the floral comforters weren't easy on the eyes.
What We Liked
OK so this should be a given anyway, but the room was spotless – lickably spotless. And everything looked new (it was built in 2003), from the nice carpet and sparkling clothes rail to the fluffy green towels in the bathroom. There was a fridge and a microwave which could have been useful, and they gave us Pantene shampoo – not bad for a budget place. The guy on the desk was extremely helpful – we arrived late, and asked where to eat, and were told that there was just one restaurant open, but it was about to close. Without us asking, he called them straight up and got them to hold the doors. Free highspeed wifi also notched up brownie points.
What We Didn’t Like
Breakfast wasn’t great – some Krispy Kremes, muffins and bananas (although full points for some fresh fruit at last). Checkout was at 11; we left our bags in the room, came back at 10.30 and found that they’d already cleaned the place and tidied our stuff up. Not cool. We defiled it anyway.
Bottom Line
The most budget place we stayed on our trip, and definitely one of the best. If you’re going to visit old Jack Daniel’s, this is definitely the place to go.
