Iggy Pop To Hang Over Your Head at The Ace NYC

While we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the ever-delayed Ace Hotel NYC to open, we virtually stumbled over a preview of the art that will be hanging in some of the rooms. Commissioned from artist Billi Kid Brand by the Ace New York, four giant paintings of quirky music legends will make a home in the hotel on Broadway and 29th Street. The pop art-style works feature portraits of Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, David Byrne and Iggy Pop; you know you're just dying to get busy under the blessing of Iggy's smirk.

Little framed pictures of Nantucket boardwalks these are not; the four big canvases required a step stool to paint, and will no doubt cover some ugly, plain walls in larger rooms at the Ace. We're surprisingly down with this collaboration, but then we've been fans of BilliKidBrand's random work seen on the actual streets of New York City. At this rate, we'll have the details on every piece of furniture and art inside of the rooms at The Ace — but still no room to sleep in.
