Don't know what to get your mom for Mother's Day? How about a long weekend at the St. Regis San Francisco and a personal shopping appointment with fashion designer Julie Chaiken through their Aficionado program? Only available on May 8 and 9, which is perfect timing for compiling a summer wardrobe, guests will attend an evening cocktail reception before awakening to breakfast with Chaiken's team on Saturday at her design studio.

Then the fun begins: St. Regis and Chaiken will get you all boozed up on the hotel's signature Bloody Marys and Bellinis before letting you loose with style consultants to shop Chaiken's collection at exclusive prices. Treat your mom or sister to a consultation on how to "...select clothing that combines sophistication with the seasons and fits their individual lifestyles, embracing a personal philosophy of sharp dressing." This is a definite step up from the usual Mother's Day corsage and brunch.

The complete package, featuring Friday night in a St. Regis deluxe room as well as the reception and studio trip, is happily only $500, cheaper than an all-out spa day. San Franciscans are also welcome to join in by purchasing just studio breakfast and consultation for $200 per person, but then they have to deal with sleeping in their own digs. Book by May 1 by calling the St. Regis' Aficionado program at 415.284.4010, and remember to clear out some space on your credit card in preparation.
