Beyond checking to see if a fitness center is existent, open and free, we don't usually pay much attention to the gyms at hotels. That is, most of us don't choose a hotel based primarily on its fitness center offerings.

Mr. David Barton does not enjoy this. In fact, David Barton wants his gyms to get attention. Major attention. One might go so far as to say David Barton would like his gym at Gansevoort South to get all the attention.

At the belated grand opening of the David Barton Gym at Gansevoort South that went down on Thursday night, the spot celebrated its fitness offerings with naked chicks and Tommy Lee. According to Page Six:

At Thursday night's opening of the David Barton Gym in Miami, the police issued it a ticket "for operating as a strip club," said our source. "Tommy Lee was deejaying, topless women were flanking the entrance, and everyone was having a great time. At about midnight, the gym got a violation - the cops cited the naked girls as strippers."

And just so you know, a rep for the gym confirmed the report saying, "It was a great party." Ok....

Now, question: does anyone really want the same things in their gyms that they want in their nightclubs? Because, opening party aside, this fitness center boasts valet parking and "live sets by international DJs" among its amenities. Oh, Miami. Oh, David Barton.

    David Barton

I have to say it was a pretty "great party!"  Most gyms would throw out a few protein shakes and some fruit.  David Barton's Gym on the other hand, had 3 open bars serving Grey Goose, circus performers hanging from the ceiling, and scantily clad models dancing at the entrance!

a fitness center serving grey goose?

    that sounds like an oxymoron.

    Their agenda...

...is a bit different from most gyms. I know of three people, one an experienced manager, who were denied employment because they weren't good looking enough. I get the feeling this isn't the last we've heard from David Barton.
