Of course this is the perfect time to iron out the kinks, with an LA Times writer in bed and your hotel in its infancy, and so Beverly seems to have taken little offense against the few flukes which marred the beginning of her Sè stay. Instead, she bestows some glowing notes on the overall design and personality of the hotel:
This is a hotel that announces itself. Guests enter through a double-wide, 1,000-pound pivoting bronze door that, surprisingly, can be opened with the slightest touch ... A chandelier of many pleated-silk-covered lanterns moves slightly, like an Alexander Calder mobile. Look straight ahead and there's a deep red wall, a jolt of color among earth tones. A floating staircase leads to the restaurant.
If the scene here isn't hopping yet (although it seemed busy enough for her V-day stay), the March 27 grand opening of the rooftop pool with underwater surround is sure to bring 'em around, especially since this is rumored to be the future home of the "geisha mermaids." We have no idea what these are or who they are. Anyone with a clue, tip us off.
Now if we could only hear some spicy stories from the "conversation piece" unisex bathroom and figure out what causes the penthouse suite to cost $25,000 a night, then we'd have a few things of our own to say about the Sè.
