Manhattan Tri-Pack Update: Shady Opening Dates, Steep Rates
Well, then. Last we checked, things seemed to be coming along nicely for two of the three hotels in Manhattan's 39th Street Times Square Tri-Pack development (the Candlewood Suites, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express going up in a single structure in Manhattan). But maybe we spoke too soon.
The Holiday Inn Express — whose progress was far behind the other two hotels in the building when we stalked the place a couple weeks ago — is taking bookings online before the other two. Its website says it will be taking reservations starting June 1st, but we were unable to book online — and the direct line to the hotel has been "temporarily disconnected."
Meanwhile, the Candlewood Suites site allows us to make rezzies for July 1st and beyond — but they start at $289.00. Um, kinda steep for an opening rate here, no? Oh, and the direct line to the hotel has also been "temporarily disconnected."
And finally, the Hampton Inn's website lists it bringing up the rear: the site is accepting bookings from September 1, 2009 and after. The going rate for the next day, September 10th? $373 and up. Ouch.
