It’s all very well London being trendy, but sometimes we just want to ditch our day-glo in favour of a little taste of Olde Englande. So we like the idea of The Stafford hotel’s new “Ladies Who London” two night package.

The hotel itself is already pretty cutesy – set around a cobbled mews, with the rare impression of being a country hotel, with frilly wallpaper and exposed beams, even though it’s just five minutes from Piccadilly Circus.

The package keeps it close, and keeps it ever so traditional. For starters: a mani-pedi in the spa at Fortnum and Mason, one of the Queen’s favourite shops. Next: a guided shopping trip through the equally posh St James’s and Mayfair. A personalised fragrance from Floris on Jermyn Street? A nice little teatime number from Lock & Co, purveyors of hats since 1676? You’d better hope your nail polish has dried – you’ll be giving your credit card a thorough seeing to.

You’ll also get two tickets to a West End show, as well as dinner and a cocktail in the American Bar, though that sounds a bit nouveau and not so crinoline-friendly to us…

The package costs £1,885 (about $2,685) for two nights and is valid through May 2009.
