Whether you’re doing anything from subscribing to a magazine to buying a car, everyone is offering rebates in a desperate attempt to get even a little of your money, and luxury hotels like Santa Barbara’s Bacara Resort and Spa seem to be spearheading the trend these days.

From now through May 21, 2009, the tony Bacara Resort, a favorite of tabloid fodder celebrities like “Speidi” and Nick Lachey, is offering its “Great Resort Rebate.” That means you get $100 resort credit when you book a room starting at $395 a night, or $200 when you book a $695/night suite. The room deal sounds better to us on a strictly numbers basis.

The rebate can be used towards food and beverages at the Spanish-style hotel’s three restaurants, spa treatments, and retail purchases at the shops on the property.

The resort is on the north side of town, just a few minutes from the airport and UCSB. Its 311 guest rooms and 49 suites all have either a private balcony or patio with ocean, garden or mountain views, and there are three saline pools for you to take a dip in between sunning sessions. The spa is over 49,000 square feet of “IRS,” as the resort says, standing for Idyllic, Rejuvenating and Soothing. How cute.

And while the $100 rebate might only get you half a massage, it’s better than nothing.
