As we were recuperating from illness in bed on Friday night, we found ourselves watching (and Tivo-ing for later) the good, the bad and the incredibly cheesy movies from the past. (Coyote Ugly anyone?) And amidst this sadfest, we found ourselves watching The Parent Trap remake with Lindsay Lohan and the late Natasha Richardson who passed away last week after a tragic fall on the ski slopes in Montreal of Mont Tremblant in Quebec. Gotta love the Encore channel's timeliness touch.

Aside from watching Richardson, we were also captivated by the young Lohan. It's hard to believe with all her recent tabloid drama these days, that she was actually once a precocious little red-headed child. They do grow up fast.

But what also got our hotel geek radar going was a hotel pool scene which we instantly recognized as The Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey.

This is the scene where Dennis Quaid, who played Annie and Hallie Parker's dad Nick, chases after their mom Elizabeth (played by Richardson) to find out what she's doing at the hotel. He falls into the pool of course but their first meeting in about 11 years goes off without a hitch. Until his fiancee arrives.

The hotel is billed as The Stafford Hotel in the movie and uses a different exterior than the Ritz Marina del Rey's actual exterior. But we really know what it is as we were at the Ritz last summer to watch Bachelorette Deanna Pappas and her now ex-fiancee canoodle in the pool. Ahh, the life of a hotel geek.

    Update

BTW you should read,  Natasha Richardson who passed away last week after a tragic fall on the ski slopes in Mont-Tremblant in the province of Quebec and not in Montreal where actually there are no ski slopes in the town itself. Mont-Tremblant is some 2 hrs up north of Montreal in the Laurentians hills region.
