Will the Ace Hotel New York open this month? Maybe not.

We're sorry to report that it looks like the last announced opening date, March 16, just isn't going to happen. That's not official (yet), but it seems large components, such as heating, just aren't ready. The March 16 date was a setback from a previous date of March 1st, and now the new goal appears to be to simply open before the end of the month.

There are surely bound to be a lot of headaches when you're opening a 300-plus room joint in Manhattan, but this whole process has been rocky from the get-go — though we continue to hold out hope for a soft-opening in the near future (hey, if the Ace Palm Springs can do it....)

The finished product will be exciting: a budget hipster hotel in an interesting location. Many of the rooms offer fresh features like turntables and choice of records, and — for your money — the best robes to be found in any New York hotel. We'll see how it all comes together in this hectic final push.

Too bad

looks like an awesome place! can't wait to check it out...cool new location, cool concept, cheap prices. The Ace should be a hit when it finally opens.
