Don’t know where Costa Smeralda is? Neither did we...till we looked it up on Google Maps. Turns out this erstwhile jetsetter haven turned-sun-bleached has been is in Sardinia, that unspoiled jewel of Mediterranean leisure. But this continental cougar is about to get her claws back.

The Porto Cervo Wine Festival in Costa Smeralda is taking place Friday-Sunday, April 24-26, this year, and is being presented by the family of Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Costa Smeralda. The five-star Sheraton Cervo Hotel will be serving as the main venue, and is offering a deal starting at 1197 euros for a double room.

The package includes:

Three nights’ accommodation, breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant, a welcome gift, entrance to the Wine Festival with additional tastings in the lounge, access to the wine workshops, complimentary entrance to the Cervo Tennis Club fitness center, and a 10% discount on Scanu Living’s Health and Beauty treatments.

The Sheratorn Cervo underwent renovations in 2008, decorating the 96 guest rooms with traditional Sardinian handicrafts, and adding luxury guest suites, a new gym, and a bar in the pool area.

Featuring both Italian and international wine producers, the festival will offer several workshops led by Italian wine experts in the morning, followed by wine tastings in the afternoon and evening. Guest speakers will also be discussing industry issues with leaders in the wine world, with a special focus on developing Sardinia's economy through wine and food. And you can feel good about yourself despite drinking way too much because profits from the entrance fees will go to benefit Wine For Life, a campaign that helps fight AIDS in Africa.

Just in case the Sheraton Cervo is all booked up, you can choose from one of Starwood’s other five-star properties in the area including the Cala di Volpe Hotel, the Hotel Romazzino and the Hotel Pitrizza (yeah; pretty soon, the area might be called Costa Starwood).
