Hotel Missoni Kuwait: All the Colorful Details

March 19, 2009 at 10:18 AM | by | Comments (7)

The Missoni Hotels are coming! The Italian fashion brand famous for its loud, brightly-colored prints, Missoni, is getting set to debut its first two hotels — one in Edinburgh, Scotland this Spring, followed by a Kuwait City property set to debut in August or September.

While the Edinburgh property is going to be done mostly in blacks, whites and silvers, expect the hotel in Kuwait to feature the bright, crazy hues you have come to associate with the brand (lots of gold, turquoise and beige, specifically) across the 106 rooms and 63 suites.

We got our hands on some images and some more juicy design deets (thanks to dedicated tipster KB): the lobby of Hotel Missoni Kuwait City will feature large mosaic urns "which will become something of a Hotel Missoni trademark," according to the official description of the property. Every Hotel Missoni will contain oversized urns like these, each one decorated in the color scheme of each property. Hmm. Okay.

Inside the rooms, expect TV's in all the bathroom mirrors, free WiFi, Missoni-scented toiletries and three telephones (plus, of course, Missoni textiles). Outside your room, indulge at the 1200 sq. metre Six Senses spa, or swim in the pool tiled with the signature Missoni stripe pattern.

An open-all-day restaurant, Cucina, will offer Italian dishes, while an open kitchen will "add to the vibrant atmosphere." There will also be a Choco Café serving coffees, teas and light dishes.

Again, this is the second Missoni fashion hotel opening up; the 136-room Missoni Edinburgh is slated to open its doors first in June.

Oooooh.

[Don't you just love when I send tips your way?]

Jenna - where did you get those new pictures?

Sorry!

Didn't mean to leave out the love the first time around :) The new images came from a super-helpful Missoni rep!

Aw.

No worries, thanks for remembering me the second time around.

You got a response out of them that fast? Damn.

[P.S. I want those images, original size preferred. Please. Pretty please? :)]

Missoni Edinburgh

I go past the new Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh quite a lot and the Urns are massive about 12 feet tall. It looks amazing from what I can see. I would love to stay in a room even though I stay in Edinburgh. The pictures that I have seen on the official website are spectacular. 10 / 10 for the way it looks.

Edinburgh

Thought you would be glad to hear that the tourism industry in Scotland's capital has been given a major boost after it emerged the number of hotel rooms sold last month soared by ten per on the previous year. Some 68 per cent of all rooms in hotels in edinburgh were said to have been sold throughout December with a hike in bookings more than making up for hoteliers having to cut some of their rates. The average value of rooms, a key indicator for the industry, rose from £51.33 in December 2008 to £54.97, an increase of seven per cent. The figures, produced by Lynn Jones Research, also reveal that 97 per cent of rooms were filled in Edinburgh over Hogmanay, up from 96 per cent last year. This was despite the number of tickets for the city's Hogmanay street party being cut from 100,000 to 80,000. Not bad during a recession.
