We’ve mentioned our aversion to lame music on hotel websites before, and unfortunately, we all know that lobby muzak is even more prevalent — and worse, since we can’t just hit mute like we can on our computers. That said, we’re intrigued by Hotel Indigo’s new “Artists in the Spotlight” music program, which brings live music to lobby bars.

The program includes music podcasts as well as a series of free “intimate hotel performances” by four emerging artists — one for each season — at boutiquey Hotel Indigos nationwide.

First up for spring is alterna-rocker Rocco DeLuca, whose podcast is live now, including several tracks from his new album Mercy, which was released last week. He’ll perform a 45-minute set March 25 at the Hotel Indigo Nashville West End’s lobby bar, starting around 5:45 p.m. (following a free cocktail reception that starts at 5). Though performances are intended for guests as an added perk, there’s no word on whether folks hanging around the lobby bar will be asked to show room keys to stick around for the show. DeLuca will also perform May 14 at Hotel Indigo Atlanta-Midtown.

Eight total performances by artists are planned for this year (two per musician) at Hotel Indigos in Boston, Chicago, Miami, NYC, San Diego, and Houston.

    i was there and the turnout was awesome... rocco rocked! he's amazing and so is his new album.  vervelife, a digital entertainment agency out of chicago produces the program for ihg and does great work bringing brands together with artists.
