Will the Times Square Tri-Pack Open as a Two-Pack?

Yesterday, we swung by 39th Street in Manhattan to check on progress of the Times Square Tri-Pack hotel — that is, the Candlewood Suites, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotel trio opening up inside a single structure near Times Square — and things are progressing. Well, mostly progressing.

The Hampton Inn and Candlewood Suites are both looking good from what we could see: the lobbies seemed to be nearing completion, signage was up, and the Hampton Inn even had some flowers on the still-under-construction front desk. Also, curtains were up on all the guest room windows! Good sign!

But the Holiday Inn Express had no signage at all, and when we asked an off duty construction worker when he thought the three hotels would open, he shrugged and told us the Hampton and Candlewood should be up and running in two or three weeks — but then he pointed to the Holiday Inn Express and said, "but definitely not that one."

Well, as Meatloaf once sang: "two outta three ain't bad."

I am still trying to wrap my brain around this!

Two-pack?

narrow

how narrow must those rooms be? i sure hope that they arent planning on putting one room per window in the front. that would be.. um. tight.

Tri-Pack's Owner, Architect?

Re Times Sq Tri-Pack (great nickname btw) Does anyone know who is the developer, who is the architect?  I have a couple of guesses of course, but facts speak louder than hunches.

@hoteldesigner

Yes! The architect is Gene Kaufman, and the owner (according to a New York Times article published in February '08) is — or was going to be — Gemini Real Estate Advisors.

Owners of Tripack

I am pretty sure that Gemini backed out. I think it may be split between Packard Hotels and another company.
Packard owns Hotel Reserve on Maiden Lane and One of the New Wyndhams in NYC.

Tripack

Packard is the managing company for this project and also manages the Hotel Reserve on Maiden and Nassau Streets downtown.  I believe McSam owns.
