Top That! Edition Hotel Will Open in Istanbul in December

South Beach, DC, Honolulu, Istanbul. What do all these destinations have in common? They have all, at one point or another, been designated the location for the very first Edition Hotel, the new luxury hotel collection spawned by Bill Marriott and Ian Schrager.

Last we checked, Edition Honolulu would open in sometime in 2010. The Edition DC project was starting to look rather unlikely and we've got no idea what happening with Edition South Beach.

But now there's been an announcement that Edition Istanbul will open before all these other jokers on Dec 15, 2009.

The hotel will be created on the site of an old HSBC building on Büyükdere Street by a development company called Palmali Holding. A hundred million Euros will be plopped into the hotel to renovate the interiors and exteriors.

Mübariz Mansimov, president of Palmali Holding, said they are very happy to be opening a seven-star hotel in Istanbul. "We will open a seven-star hotel to offer the best service possible to Istanbul, the European Culture Capital of 2010. The Edition Hotel will have 80 rooms, all suites. There will be the finest restaurant brands of the world and a SPA service."

A SEVEN-STAR HOTEL? Good lord. Now, we definitely want Edition Istanbul to open in 2009 but can someone front our ticket to Turkey? kthxbai!
