The Cherry Blossoms are Coming!

By most accounts, DC has more than its share of ugliness, from political jockeying to dilapidated neighborhoods. But for two weeks each spring, all is temporarily forgotten as the city transforms into a bumbling wonderland of cherry blossoms.

For those considering a springtime getaway, consider staying at the Park Hyatt Washington. The hotel’s Spring Blossom Package includes a room upgrade, pot of Cherry Blossom Green Tea from the hotel’s Tea Cellar, choice of valet parking or breakfast, and a kiddie backpack filled with sightseeing supplies and gifts. Rates start at $329 and are available through April 26.

Or, for the truly sophisticated route, you can opt for the amped-up Culture at the Park package, which offers a room upgrade, behind-the-scenes tour of a Lincoln exhibit at The Historical Society, tickets to the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, homemade apple pie from its Blue Duck Tavern, and drinks for two in the Lounge. (Through Oct. 31, from $749.)

Though this DC must-do won’t really make you part of history like the last biggie, it also won’t likely involve freezing your arse off to watch talking heads on a Jumbotron. And, really, the cherry blossoms are quite lovely.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival runs March 28-April 12 this year, but peak bloom days are being forecasted for April 3-9.

    DC is ugly?

"By most accounts, DC has more than its share of ugliness, from political jockeying to dilapidated neighborhoods."

Has the author of this post spent any time in DC in the past five years?  Apparently not.  DC does have federal buildings that need some update and the same economically depressed neighborhoods that any city does (Chicago for one)...however the city is undergoing a true renaissance of theatre, art, hotels, and importantly restaurants.  As seen in your following blog about our hotels - we have many great ones to choose from with great service and location.

Encourage you to re-visit the nation's capital and rethink the use of the term ugly.  While our two weeks of cherry blossoms is gorgeous, we offer international culture, food and tourism all year round.

    I heart DC

Sorry, I wasn't trying to insult DC! I live there and love the place (truly). I just meant the city also has some well-documented ugly sides. My apologies!
