Will Steve and Elaine Wynn's Divorce Affect the Company?

Some sad news today: Steve Wynn and Elaine Wynn are officially getting a divorce. Recall that we'd heard some rumors that the emperor and his wife were in the middle of a very quiet split a couple months ago — a PYT was allegedly involved — but the couple was still on good terms.

For those who haven't followed our somewhat gush-y coverage of the almost-former Emperor's Wife: Elaine has been more than Steve's spouse; she's also been fairly involved in the company, overseeing the retail shops at Wynn hotels and acting as a director on the company's board.

The pair wed first in 1963, then divorced in 1986, then remarried again five years later — and now they're divorcing again. According to the AP:

Clark County District Court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer told The Associated Press on Tuesday that divorce papers were filed March 5 and sealed by a judge the same day. The sealing means no other details of the case are public.

And just how is this going to be affecting the company? We know it's been (and will continue to be) a huge year for Wynn, with both the opening of the outstandingly well-received Encore Las Vegas and the preparations for Encore Macau going on — but will Elaine be sticking around or will she be rollin' on outta the company and abdicating her Queen of Las Vegas throne?

Our money's on Elaine staying and things being business as usual — but it's Vegas; anything can happen.
