You know how Gordon Ramsay acts like a total arsehole when he’s on TV? We were hoping it was all an act, but now we’re not so sure if his level of staff training is anything to go by.

According to today’s London Lite newspaper, staff at Ramsay’s superposh Maze restaurant at the Marriott in Grosvenor Square were snowed in on Monday, and couldn’t get home.

But instead of shacking up in some of the 236 rooms the hotel has to offer, they ended up sleeping on the restaurant floor because their bosses refused to pay for rooms – despite their having negotiated the rate down from £274 to just £50 ($73).

According to the paper, a spokesperson for Gordon Ramsay Holdings admitted that “a junior manager felt he didn’t have authority to clear rooms,” but that staff were allocated rooms and taxis on Tuesday. If it was us, we wouldn’t have come in on Tuesday.

Maze and the Marriott aren’t doing great for publicity at the moment – this is the hotel where, according to “professional mistress” Sarah Symonds, she had dinner with Ramsay, and then some in a room upstairs.

Obviously there’s no suggestion that Ramsay himself had anything to do with the decision – in fact, he’s sunning himself in LA at the moment. But it doesn’t say much for the values he’s installed in his staff. Come on Gordon, get your ****ing house in order.
