But the hotel’s big transformation “re-captures the original personality of The Langham, blended with contemporary touches bespoke to the property,” courtesy of designers at Richmond International. In practice, that translates to a makeover for the hotel’s 382 guest rooms and suites (now with polished marble floors, new art, and a more “sophisticated” color scheme of jewel tones). The new lobby and reception area have been glam-ified, with solid cast bronze gates, a marble grand fireplace, and blown-glass chandeliers.
Plus, the Palm Court restaurant has been enhanced with “textured silk wall panels, bronze sculptures, embossed leather benches” and dark blues and clarets. And set to open in early 2010 is Europe’s first Chuan Spa — the signature spa of Langham Hotels, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine.
