Thanks to all your great comments and advice, we're extremely excited about our trip to Seattle. We're getting close to finalizing our hotels but we did want to take a closer look at some of the suggestions you put forth.

We first checked out The Ace Seattle for the weekend of March 20-22 which was recommended by Tvmlstr. The good news? They have rooms available for $99 a night. The bad news? Those are with shared baths. Deluxe rooms with private baths are available for $175 a night.

Fordprefix also recommended The Hotel Max where room rates are do-able at $119 a night and where there is an entire floor devoted to the 90s grunge scene.

Nirvana worshipping aside, we are actually intrigued to the Max (har, har) by the hotel's own description:

the Hotel Max's low-key design leads you to think business, but what we're really about is ART! ART! ART! The whole place is designed as a foil for both emerging and established artists & photographers in town.

We like art and photography! And the hotel has about 350 original paintings and photographs found throughout their hotel. Cool. Another bonus? The hotel just went smoke-free at the start of 2009.

Even more intriguing, the hotel is actually holding a winter sale with rooms starting at $99 for a "Solo Bed" category. As the name implies, the solo room is good for one traveler. We got a buddy going with us this time so we'll pay the $119 for the "Artist King" room. But still, we're tempted to squeeze into the double-bed and take advantage of the free parking and WiFi included in the sale. Also, the hotel won us over with a picture of a bulldog in a shower--a great way to convey its pet-friendliness (There's a $40 fee though.)

We're not headed to Seattle for another few weeks but we love all your enthusiasm. Keep it going here.
