Ace Hotel NYC Still Under Much Construction

Last week, we were a little concerned about the opening date of the Ace Hotel NYC. Initially slated to open on February 1st, the hotel then announced it would open on March 1st. But as we found out the newest date is March 16th. Or is it?

A tipster who went inside the building recently told us:

The lobby was such a construction site, we actually left because there was no way that property looked like it was ready to open for weeks, if not longer. Not sure April 1 is realistic!

Wow. That's a shame. But we want to give Ace the benefit of the doubt here. Construction crews have been known to whip hotels into shape in a matter of days. Conversely, maybe Ace Hotel will just open the rooms a la Thompson Hotels and have guests trade-off the luxury of public spaces for cheap rates. Either way, we're getting antsy. Here's to the Ace opening before March is out.
