The inn's restaurant is already up and running, and NY Mag had some specifics on the accommodations to come; apparently, Gere hopes to have great minds inside those rooms:
Gere remains quite hopeful that the inn will feed the mind as well as the stomach. They plan to start accepting guests in the spring, but there will be only eight rooms. “There are a lot of people in this area who have been enormously successful and have done tremendous good work. It’s my hope that they will come and discuss and network at a very high level about how to have a positive impact on the planet.” Think of it as Davos on the Metro-North for people like Martha Stewart (who happened by earlier on her steed and stopped in to discuss recipes with the chef).
Gere will be running the place with his wife Carey Lowell, who both have pretty realistic expectations for how things are gonna go (unlike another celeb couple turned "innkeeping couple" who shall not be named) Gere and Lowell are realistic about going into the hospitality business in this economy. Lacking the arrogant confidence sometimes seen in other celeb hoteliers, Gere told NY Mag earnestly, "we hope we don’t lose money." We hope so too, darling.
