All About Andre Balazs in 'Arkitip'

It has arrived: the 50th issue of Arkitip, which is both focused on hotelier André Balazs and designed by him, dropped into our mailbox yesterday. Each magazine includes a "surface mat" featuring a design of one of André's properties, and aside from a few articles at the end, André was in control of the content of the entire edition.

So what did we learn about the hot hotelier? That his promised wine, a rosé produced near his Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island, is ready for mass consumption, and that he collects vintage nude photographs. Also of note is his acquisition of Jean Prouvé's La Maison Tropicale, a modular design by the famous architect which Balazs has currently lent to be on exhibition outside of the Tate Modern in London.

We wish we could have scanned some of the magazine for you, but it is almost not worth it; after a few vaguely presidential images of André in his office, the rest of the magazine is almost solely official photos of his properties and the products available therein. Now we're stuck with four copies, which is probably what we deserve for semi-stalking "One of the Most Stylish Men in America".
