How did New York and its revolving population of distressed celebrities ever survive before The Bowery Hotel came to be? You'd think that it was created for the express purpose of holding launch parties and refined cocktail hours for downtown types, but no--people actually sleep here! Despite what you read in the gossip columns, it's a real hotel.

Open for barely two years already, The Bowery has quickly come to be known as the hotel for paparazzi to stalk during big events in New York, such as Fashion Week and the Tribeca Film Festival. Consider it The Dorchester Hotel for the States. Were we to detail all of the crazy tabloid stuff that has gone down here, we'd need to take a klonopin and the rest of the day off, and so we'll just stick to regaling you with the highlights:

· February 2009: Lindsay Lohan in the lobby, sobbing and holding her shoes, before running out into the cold. That's right Lindsay, have your breakdown right in the middle of the lobby and in the main entrance where everyone can see you. Perhaps The Bowery needs to set aside a private "screaming match" area just off of the lobby.

· September 2008: Dita von Teese performs her signature martini glass routine for Marc Anthony. Are you a celebrity having a birthday? Why not have your wife (Jennifer Lopez) give Dita a call and arrange to meet at The Bowery? You only turn 40 once, after all.

· July 2008: LiLo and SamRo are up to their old tricks. They somehow get locked inside of their room at The Bowery and had to make an escape through their balcony; it's a good thing they had one, or else brunch at Gemma would have been scrambled starlet.

· March 2008: Kat Von D and Nikki Sixx get matching Bowery Hotel tattoos. To commemorate a wild night upstairs at The Bowery, these two lovebirds took the Bowery's logo of an 1860's gang member and had it forever imprinted in each others' body murals.

· November 2007: A Reporter for New York Mag Smokes Pot with Snoop Dogg on the 2nd Floor. It was an afterparty for a store opening, and of course Snoop was surrounded in a fog. That's the thing about openings and the after-parties; there are always press there to give the full report.
