W South Beach Will Open at $281 a Night

Last week we got a little worried that the W South Beach would not be making their opening date of Summer 2009. Even though summer is still a ways off, we are happy to see that the online reservations system is now working for stays on July 1 and later.

Room rates for July 1 are $281 for the night. That's for a non-smoking Wonderful room with a balcony oceanview and kitchenette on a lower floor. Not bad except that's a non-refundable, non-changeable rate. A regular rate is about $369 a night. Eeek.

Similarly, a Spectacular room at the advance purchase rate has the same amenities except it's on a higher floor and costs $321 a night.

We are rather interested in the MegaRoom which has a plunge Pool, a full ocean view with balcony and a full kitchen. That's currently going for $559 a night. Hmm...guess we better shore up our investment portfolio before then. Oh wait, it's already been wiped out. Darn.
