The Rooms: Popular with those giants of industry in Hong Kong, the retail buyers, The Langham's recently renovated rooms (from $270 a night) are spacious by HK standards and thankfully shy away from the trend of peekaboo bathrooms. Instead, shutters can be left open for watching Tv while enjoying a soak, or closed for ultimate privacy. Although Langham Hotels are technically a chain, each property takes inspiration from the local culture, and as a result you will see Asian art and refined design touches at The Langham Hong Kong.
The Restaurants: WIth the publication of the first Michelin Guide for Hong Kong, the city's restaurants are all in tizzy. The Langham doesn't have to worry, however, as their T'ang Court was among the fortunate and received two Michelin stars. If you left your formalwear at home, then there's always their seafood restaurant, The Bostonian, and Hong Kong's only real New York deli, The Main Street Deli, which will happily serve up bagel and lox for the homesick. We actually think the real gem of the bunch is the lobby's Palm Court, with a signature ginger lily scent, a vodka bar at the back and afternoon tea throughout the week. Actually, weekends at The Langham are a chocolate-lovers dream with a choco-themed afternoon tea.
The Amenities:If you get a chance to stay here, you absolutely must pay the little extra for access to the Executive Club, which offers a bevy of free stuff to make it worth your while: afternoon tea, bites throughout the day, cocktails in the evening, and access to a meeting room. In addition, the offers wifi, a duplex gym with personal trainer, and a large rooftop pool with a partial view of Victoria Harbour.
Bottom Line:For the hotel purists who enjoy classical luxury paired with the comforts of modern technology and five-star service, The Langham Hong Kong is the way to go. It's location right at the center of Kowloon's active district and a couple minutes' walk to the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island mean you're always within reach of Hong Kong's highlights. Even if you're plans take you elsewhere, The Langham's weekend chocolate teatime is worth a break from the heat and busy sightseeing.
