W South Beach Will Have Rooms Open in June

The W South Beach: When will it ever open? Last we heard, the hotel was hiring employees for a May opening. But a tipster let us know that you can online reservations would start July 1. However, in that weird Starwood way of listing opening dates, a May 1, 2009 opening date was still listed on the website. So which date is the correct opening date?

We checked with a source at the hotel and he assured us that the hotel itself would be opening on May 1, give or take a few days. Rooms will open to guests within a few weeks after that, probably in June. Good, cuz we're getting antsy here.

We tried to plug in dates online for July 1 to see how much these long-awaited rooms would cost but the system was not working. It's probably too far out to tell. We only hope the rooms aren't going to be as pricey as the W Atlanta. Then again, it's a new hotel opening in the off-season during a recession. Odds are in the guests' favor here.
