The hotel will be attached the city's largest mall (and its Olympic-sized ice rink), for chrissakes, so there will be flash. The 491 rooms (including 48 long-stay apartments) include oversized rain showers with glass doors that automatically frost over when closed, self-contained workstations with WiFi, iPod hook-ups, and views of Shenzhen's downtown, with more of Hong Kong visible in the distance the higher up in the building you go.
Perhaps the highlight of the hotel, however, are its restaurants. We think that the Grand Hyatt is trying to do a foodie thing more than a wining-and-dining business travelers thing, because among their several upscale eateries is a show kitchen. They've also got private dining suites, a rustic pizzeria and a frickin' patisserie! Last time we were in a Grand Hyatt, it didn't feel like it's own little world, but then perhaps that's the route they're now taking with the Shenzhen property.
Rooms start at $115 and can be booked directly on their website.
