The view from the rooftop bar at the Shangri-La Santa Monica.

Like the rest of us, the Shangri-La Santa Monica is looking to make a fresh start in 2010, especially after its recently completed $30 million renovation. To celebrate its new look, this 1939 Art Deco gem is throwing a New Year’s Eve blowout bash for 700 of its closest friends (or just paying patrons).

The hotel will mark the end of the decade starting at 6:00pm on December 31, and party hard until the evening comes to a close at 2:00am at the multi-level rooftop bar and lounge, Suite 700, with its pop-up bars, fire pits and killer views up and down the coast.

Guests can choose from a variety of packages including those with dinner at the hotel’s Dining Room, bottle service, overnight room packages, and all the entertainment of the evening from three DJ’s, party favors like tray-passed sweets, confetti cannons (look out below!) and a midnight champagne toast. Tickets to the rooftop and cash bar start at $25, while VIP tickets to Suite 700 with an all-night open bar will run you $100.

Those interested in sending out the old year with a fabulous meal have two options at the hotel’s restaurant, The Dining Room. The first seating will start at 6:00pm and feature a five-course tasting menu for $85 per person. The second seating begins at 9:00pm, includes seven courses, and rings up to $105 per person.

Want to have one last fling for 2009—hey, it doesn’t count until the sun comes up!—or just looking for a way to avoid having to drive home? The Shangri-La is also offering two special room packages that night. The first starts at $550 and includes one night’s accommodation in a deluxe room and access to Suite 700 for two.

The luxury suite package for two people will be $650, though you get a one-bedroom suite as well as access to the party. If you’re considering it, hurry up because the hotel’s 70 rooms are almost completely sold out.
