No Blue Aliens With Tails Checking Into The Avatar 3D Hotel in NorCal...Yet

It’s finally here: the weekend when Avatar mania infects millions of fan-boys and (James Cameron hopes) spreads to the rest of the masses. And if you’re in Silicon Valley this weekend, you can extend your all-things-Avatar-all-the-time experience by checking into The Avatar Hotel which is already in 3D. (Get it?)
This new joint venture between Joie de Vivre Hotels and Best Western is located in Geek Town Santa Clara, near the folks of Yahoo!, Cisco, Intel, et al. Accordingly, it has all the amenities techie travelers like, the most important being free WiFi.
While the hotel doesn’t seem to have taken advantage of an Avatar tie-in, it does offer a Star Trek Package which includes 2 tickets and transport to the San Jose Tech Museum Star Trek exhibit and a welcome amenity. That special is available until March 30 and starts at $109 a night.
The regular rate, however, starts at just $62 a night and there is availability for this weekend. If you’re one of those fans who has to watch a new movie more than once, you could stay at The Avatar and cram your waking hours with Avatar the movie—the hotel is a mere three-minute walk to a huge cinema complex, the AMC Theatres Mercado 20, which has multiple showings of Avatar this weekend, including the Imax version.
