There's a Hotel For Every Time Zone This New Year's Eve

Tween superstar Miley Cyrus likes to sing about a "Party in the U.S.A." but HotelChatter wants to tell you where you can "party in the world" for New Year's Eve by listing a hotel in each time zone, starting in New Zealand and ending in Hawaii. (Ok, "Party in the World" is not as catching as Miley's anthem.)

But don't worry, we aren't leaving the good ole U.S. of A. off any New Year's Eve hotel lists. All week long we'll be looking at last-minute New Year deals in all cities but for now, let's see how to ring in 2010 around the world. Join us, won't you, as we time-zone hop from one party city to the next ...

AUCKLAND: That Harbor Bridge in Sydney hogs all the screen time on news reports, but Auckland is actually the first major city to celebrate the new year. At the Westin Auckland Lighter Quay you can indulge in a 7-course degustation menu and a glass of champagne at Q Restaurant, which looks out over the hotel's private pontoon. Guests receive a specially designed cocktail on arrival and can opt for a course by course wine matching menu. The meal costs NZ$195 per person ($55 extra for the wine-pairing option), and NYE diners can stumble to a room at the hotel for a rate of NZ$350, including full buffet breakfast. Book via the Westin or Q Restaurant.

ABU DHABI: You know that friend who had a crappy year but overcame hardship and is ready to rock the hell out of New Year's Eve and bring in a shiny brand new year in major style? If you don't have one of these excellent party partners, just head to Abu Dhabi, where Rihanna is performing at the Emirates Palace Hotel. Promoters expect over 15,000 revelers on the West Lawn of the sprawling hotel grounds. Ticket info is available through event organizers Flash Entertainment, and rooms at the hotel on December 31 start at around $1,300 USD. (Hey, no one said partying with a pop phenomenon was cheap.)

BERLIN: For something a little more affordable, head to Berlin and the stylish Ku' Damm 101 Hotel. The property is hosting a Black & White New Years Part on its seventh floor, with 360° views over the city’s rooftops and the evening’s fireworks. All-night-long tickets for the party (8 p.m.–4 a.m.) are sold out but you can still snag an After-Midnight Ticket for 25 euros. Or go for the party + room package, which starts at 181 euros for a single room, and includes breakfast buffet and a late-checkout on New Year’s Day.

RIO: Perhaps you’re happy to party on Copacabana Beach with hordes of happy Brazilians dressed in white. But if you want a secure spot above the fray, you could do worse than hit up the The Copacabana Palace. The waterfront hotel’s Pérgula Restaurant is hosting an international buffet and party by the pool, while the Cipriani Restaurant is doing a six-course meal. Yet another New Year’s party will be held in the hotel’s reception rooms, featuring a live band, buffet dinner, and a spot on the veranda to watch the fireworks over the beach at midnight. Tickets for the parties start at $684 USD per person (rooms not included).

MAUI: Hawaii is one of the last places in the world to ring in the new year, so if you want to delay your entry to 2010, head to the Fairmont Kea Lani for their Rock-a-Hula Baby New Year’s Eve Gala. The vibe is swinging 60s and there’ll be all manner of cheesy-lavish entertainment, from fortune tellers to tableside magic tricks. Tickets start at $250 per person but this includes a gourmet buffet, DJ and dancing, and a midnight champagne toast. Wanna stay over? Rooms start at $625 a night.

I once stayed at Fairmont Kea Lani !

The Fairmont Kea Lani is one of the best maui hotels. It is all suites, so the rooms are larger than those at the Grand Wailea. It does not have the elaborate pools of the Grand, but it is a quieter hotel, so if you are looking for quiet then the Kea Lani would have that advantage.
