Charing Cross Hotel Gets a Starring Role On New iPhone App
Sherlock Holmes fever is going to hit London on Boxing Day thanks to the double serving of fitness that Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr are bringing to their new film adaptation (sorry Jude Law, we’re not including you in the fit stakes).
Anyway, those of you who liked your Angels & Demons tours might like to know that you can tour the locations of Arthur Conan Doyle’s books on the cheap with the new iPhone app, The Sherlock Holmes Guide to London. There are 60 locations featured, and as well as the bleedin’ obvious ones like Baker Street, there’s a spot for the Charing Cross Hotel as well.
And not just as a place to rest up – the hotel is the location for the denouement of The Bruce-Partington Plans (something to do with Holmes unveiling a spy in the smoking room, apparently). If you want to stay in a room that Holmes might have stayed in (erm, were he real, obviously), rooms start from £129 ($209) including breakfast, and the app costs £1.79 ($2.99) from here.
Now if someone could work on a Ritchie-Downey Jr-generating app, we’d be much obliged.
