Beyond Jamie's heinous t-shirt is a pretty killer view

Say we had a restaurant and we wanted a celeb chef to endorse it, we probably wouldn’t go for Jamie Oliver, the healthy meal-crusading Brit who currently appears to be setting his sights on the States (apologies for that). No offence Jamie, but your cheeky chappy persona hasn’t exactly mellowed as the years have gone by, your TV ads annoy us to pieces, and you’re getting a bit too portly to be banging on about healthy eating.

Seems that not everybody is as ranty about Jamie as us, though, because Maison MK in Marrakech has just announced that Jamie has deemed its roof terrace “the best roof top out of a selection of 26 riads he had seen.” Erm, right.

Our bitching is probably a little unnecessary here; by all reports, Maison MK is pretty smashing; it opened last year to rave reviews and the pictures on its website make us want to go there now. We’d just rather it rested on its own laurels, rather than bringing in old fatty face Oliver to sing its praises. And we’re really hoping they didn’t put him up for free.

Anyways, the roof terrace sounds pretty nice – it’s split into two parts, with views of the Atlas mountains and the main mosque tower from the top (you can just make them out behind Jamie's podge), and a candle-lit bar on the bottom. And it was, apparently, so conducive to Jamie's creative juices that he even chose it as a location for his new TV series. We can’t wait.

In the mean time, if you want to get a piece of Oliver-endorsed action, choose your dates carefully, as the website is showing very little availability. Next weekend is free – a stay then will set you back €300 ($442/£271) a night.
