Casa Casuarina To Reopen as The Villa By Barton G.

That was fast. Just the other day, it looked the Casa Casaurina was going to get a lump of coal in their stockings from Santa Claus, but the Miami Herald reports that the hotel will reopen immediately under the direction of events planner and restauranteur, Barton G. Weiss, who will then rebrand the property, The Villa by Barton G.
Barton G. was hired by owner Peter Lofti, who has wisely decided to step aside and let Weiss work his hospitality magic here.
Weiss will have a 10-year lease, with a 10-year renewable option. He'll rebrand it -- The Villa by Barton G. -- and begin booking events and suites immediately. ``It's a special building that needs to be managed correctly,'' says Weiss, 53. He says he'll open the restaurant by February. It will be his third -- he owns Barton G. on West Avenue in Miami Beach, and operates Prelude by Barton G. at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami.
It's the holiday season so we're going to go easy on this one but is the "by Barton G." part of the hotel name necessary? Sure, this man has some serious standing in the Miami social circles and we agree that the Casa Casuarina name probably means failure in both Spanish and Italian but the Barton G. part sounds a little silly. Like "Hair by Barton G." or "Glam Shots by Barton G."
Still, we really hope Barton G. can turn this place around. After all, it's his name that's now on the place.
Thanks to Gregg for the tip!
