easyHotel Goes Gangbusters With New Hotels In Bulgaria, Dubai, Berlin

Ten Euros for a hotel room. You might not believe that room rate from a 3-star hotel in London, but what about a budget chain newly opening in Bulgaria? That's a little more believable alright, and of course we're talking about easyHotel.com, the British budget hotel chain that springs from the Easy group, which also counts the easyJet airline, easyInternetCafe (a personal favorite) and easyCruise among its varied branches.

Today they open their 11th location, a 57-room building in Sofia, Bulgaria's central city, on the corner of Aldomirovska Street and Todor Alexandrov Boulevard. Believe it or not, this will be the first newly-built easyHotel, since all the others simply took over old buildings.

And what does purpose-built mean for this property? Well for one, everything will start out very spick and span; no musty old building smell or crust here. Also, this hotel ditches the old orange-heavy easyHotel interior scheme for the new modern design announced only earlier this year.

But the expansion news hardly stops here...

All together now: easyHotel Dubai! Oh. my. god. We are on the brink of hyperventilation with this. Yes, easyHotel will open a branch in the notoriously overpriced city of Dubai at Jebel Ali. Reservations are not yet open and an official opening date hasn't been set, but there are whispers about the 216-room hotel, whose room rates will be under $100, possibly debuting in the first quarter of 2010. Okay, so technically the 12th easyHotel location will be in Berlin at the Hackescher Markt, opening sometime later this month or at the beginning of January; they aren't very good about announcing opening dates. Get excited, yo!

easyHotels can currently be found in London (6 locations), Luton (outside of London), Cyprus, Budapest, Zurich and Basel.

Easyjet Berlin

The Berlin location is not exactly in Hackescher Markt but about a 15 minute walk in Rosenthalerplatz.  Also, worth noting it shares an intersection with 2 hostels, and 3 other low-cost hotels...  will be interesting to see how successful they are!
