Hilton Gets In On the Paris Hotel Package Bonanza—With Wine

November 6, 2009 at 1:10 PM | by MsRebecca | 0 Comments

OK, if it weren’t already obvious that we should be taking a winter jaunt to Paris, here we have yet another Paris hotel package deal that sounds, well, délicieuse. And that's not because of its sexy hotel name.

This time the package revolves around something we find it very hard to resist: French wine. This month is all about Beaujolais Nouveau. And even though it’s the time when your local wine store starts accepting its shipments of Beaujolais, surely a glass or three of the stuff would taste better in the mother land. That’s what Hilton is banking on with its new Wine Lovers package.

Available at both the Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris and the Hilton Paris La Defense, the package includes:

- a night’s stay
- breakfast
- a 2-hour wine tasting at O Chateau, a 17th century cellar founded by Olivier Magny, a young sommelier known as “the Jamie Oliver of wine” (that’s code for “cute, with kinda shaggy hair”)
- an O Chateau bottle opener and Drop Stop

The tasting will give you the chance to sample six French wines, including Champagne, and there’ll also be tips on how to read wine lists and labels, and how to drink wine without looking like an idiot. Conveniently, the cellar is only about 10 minutes away from both Hiltons in a taxi (15 minutes by Metro), so you can get sozzled and then return to your room for a disco nap.

The package is available now through December 15, and starts at 220 Euros (about $314 U.S.) at Hilton Paris La Défense, and 340 Euros (about $506 U.S.) at Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris. The only catch? You have to book through the hotels directly. For Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris, phone + 33 (0) 1 58 36 67 16 or email Reservations.adt@hilton.com; for Hilton Paris La Defense, phone +33-1-4692-1010 or email rm.ladefense@hilton.com
