The Best of The 'Do Not Disturb' Signs

November 9, 2009 at 10:29 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

In continuing with our Hotel Still Life series...

In the Hotel Room of the Future, we fully expect the old Do Not Disturb signs to be replaced by a robot who will also take care of other awkward human interactions that we dislike having to do when staying in hotels, i.e. sign the room service bill, ask for more towels, yell at the neighbor for having their iPod stereo on too loud, etc.

But if there is no robot, we at least expect more and more hotels to move toward an electronic DND sign, like the ones we saw at the EPIC Hotel in Miami.

While this trend is an impressive step into modernizing hotel stays, we're still partial to the old school paper Do Not Disturb signs that you hang on your door. Here at HotelChatter, we've seen plenty of these from the simple "Do Not Disturb" to the tongue-in-cheek of "Tied Up." The latter is the type that we're giving a shout-out to today in our Best of the Do Not Disturb Signs gallery.

So take a break from your TPS reports and have fun looking at some of the DND signs from various hotels. Our personal favorite? The Chinese Take-Out sign from Hotel Erwin in Venice, Calif. But you can't really order take-out. Just look closely at the menu offerings.

Got a Do Not Disturb sign that you love? Send it to us and we'll add it to our gallery!
