Will STK at the Gansevoort South Open in 2009? The Clock is Ticking

While everyone else in the country has turkey on their minds, we’re dreaming of steak. STK even. And the STK we’ve really been wondering about is the outpost that is still under construction at the Gansevoort South in Miami Beach. Our last update about a month ago revealed that the sexy interiors were nowhere near completion, and today the official word is that the ETA for the steakhouse for femme fatales is “mid to late December.” Yes, they said “ETA,” so let’s not count on chowing down on those Little Big Macs and Shrimp Rice Krispies for Christmas just yet.

According to Eater Miami, some folks have already been let down by the unreliable stream of opening dates. Apparently a number of Art Basel parties were booked for STK but the Basel-ites were forced to find alternative venues when they were told the restaurant wouldn’t be ready, after all. Maybe The One Group shouldn’t be advertising STK’s availability for private parties on its website then? (Although, we have to admit, hosting your own gathering in one of the four private dining suites with names like “The Tempest Storm” and “The Candy Barr” sounds kind of awesome.)

In the interest of avoiding disappointment, we’re not even going to put STK’s opening on our Hotel Holiday Wish List, but we do hope the Gansevoort and The One Group prioritize it as a New Year’s Resolution. We’re hungry.
